EVALUATION OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS IN MIDLAND REFINERIES COMPANY / DORA REFINERY/OIL PRODUCTION UNITS ACCORDING TO THE STANDARD ISO50001: 2018 CASE STUDY

Abstract

This study focused on the evaluation of the implementation of energy management systems between the requirements of ISO50001: 2018 and the actual reality of Dora refinery /oil production units. Through the field coexistence of the researched company, we have noticed that there is a problem of not adhering to the requirements of the standard despite its importance, which urged us to choose the subject of research to identify the gap between the actual reality and the requirements of the standard in order to eliminate the gap and improve compliance. The study was able to identify the problem realistically and suggested a mechanism and procedures according to appropriate steps that enable the researched company to eliminate the gaps and get the certificate of the standard. The case study method was adopted including observation method, field coexistence and interviewing officials using (checklist) where its paragraphs were prepared according to the requirements of the standard and the gaps were measured using the weighted average law and the percentage of conformity, Rulon formula Measurement tool stability (checklist). The results showed that there are large gaps in the level of application and documentation between the actual reality and the requirements of the standard, in addition to the lack of interest of the company researched energy costs. The study recommends the necessity of commitment and adoption of the senior management of the company to apply the standard according to the mechanism and procedures proposed with the provision of all the resources and requirements necessary for application.
