Analysis on tourism as a tool for economic development in emerging markets in Yunnan province, China
Abstract
Tea is critical to economic growth, specifically in developing economies like Yunnan Province of China. As such, this paper aims to analyses the relationship between tourism and economic development with particular reference to Yunnan Province. Synthesizing actual and conceptual information enlightens the complex roles of tourism in the positive development of cultures, creation of employment opportunities, and enhancing cultural exchange that fosters economic health. This increases tourism’s potential as an agent of socio-economic development in Yunnan because of the natural and cultural values, history, and heritage endowment. Pressing issues such as infrastructural limitations and environmental concerns are highlighted, while growth trends that need capitalization are also highlighted. The paper outlines a framework for the future development of sustainable tourism; crucial to this process is the need to involve society, update policies, and develop facilities. Therefore, by using findings from this study on tourism development in Yunnan province, this research presents a map of how to achieve purposeful change in similar emerging economies.
