Feminism: A Tool to Analyze Literature

Abstract

The ideology of woman has been varied and changing in keeping with the ruling concepts, and this has created a great future for women. The notion of perfect woman was restricted in relation to social norms in general. It had almost no association with social issues. Though the new century rolled over, the condition of woman has remained the same with the superficial changes. It is this condition which determines the character of women. It is said that woman is prudent, petty, false and theoretical and she has no sense of fact and also lacks of morality. This may be true. However, these varieties of women's behavior are not caused by her harmonies and by the structure of her brain. On the contrary, they are shaped by their situation. According to Simone de Beauvoir, there are certain common features in the charges against woman. In fact, women have never built an independent society. On the contrary, they are an integral part of the world governed by men. During the second world war a new wave of women's liberation, this gave women an opportunity to dissolve in the society and take in many social activities like working force, education, and politics.
