Abstract

Measuring the general anxiety level among teachers is one of the famous difficulties that are faced by researchers. So, this study aimed at extracting the validity, reliability, and standards in light of the gender’s variable for the proposed Jordanian form of Teaching Anxiety Scale (TCHAS-29), which was prepared by Parsons (1994). This scale was developed using a sample consisting of (410) fourth-year level male and female students who are studying specializations that qualify them to work as teachers in the Ministry of Education and who have an intent to work in this profession. The face and construct validated were verified by factor analysis. reliability was estimated using internal consistency Cronbach’s alpha formula (0.94). In addition, the standards derived from the performance on the scale were extracted by calculating the Z and T-scores and by calculating the percentile ranks of raw scores. The results of the study show that this version of the scale proposed to measure teacher's anxiety has shown good psychometric properties. Thus, this scale can be used to meet different purposes. Therefore, it can be recommended to gauge teachers' anxiety.
