Abstract

  ABSTRACT The research presents the Perspective of 21 students from the final year of  nursing school from 5 Universities of the Coquimbo Region, Chile, regarding to the acquired knowledge during their formation in concepts of gender and its legal frame in Chile.  Objective: Research the acquired knowledge during their university education in students of the final year of Nursing schools of the Coquimbo Region about the concept of gender and legislation existing in Chile. Methodology: This study is qualitative oriented, and it has an exploratory phenomenological approach. Data collection was carried out through several in-depth interviews. For data analysis, thematic analysis method was used, and support from the Atlas Ti software. Results: in the reports a non-empirical reality was revealed, the lack or absence of knowledge from students of the final year of Nursing Schools, related to genre subject area, and its laws; emphasizing the importance of educating with gender approach in order to guarantee proper and quality care in Nursing. Conclusions:  The interviewed gave great importance to the need of having an updated knowledge about sexual diversity, its needs and the way of giving an inclusive nursing care.       In the short term, is suggested to add modifications to the Nursery curriculum, related to the gender approach and concomitant laws in order to give holistic and comprehensive care regarding to human being dignity, no matter his/her gender identity.
