The sex life of married women: satisfaction and difficulties

Abstract

Objective: Satisfaction with healthy conjugal sex depends on various factors such as the sexual education of both partners, marriage's nature and also the quality of sexual intercourse. The   given study aims to determine links ‘s contribution in sexual conjugal satisfaction among sexually active married women. Methods:  This analytical descriptive study was carried on 100 married women at consultation of gynecology in maternity center in Tunisia. Questionnaires for data collection included Questionnaire on marital sexual behavior. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Statistically a significant level was set at 0.05. Results: The findings showed that in marital sexual satisfaction scale, almost half of the participants (42%) were satisfied and 36% of them were very satisfied. Marital sexual satisfaction was significantly associated with length of sexual intercourse (p ≤ 0.043). However, there is no significant association between sexual satisfaction and frequency of sexual intercourse (P = 0.801). The findings indicated that there was a significant association between orgasm’s difficulties and husband’s age (p = 0.032). wedding resulting from a love affair was associated significantly with marital sexual satisfaction (p = 0.041). Conclusion: A satisfying sex life can improve and consolidate harmony within couples. But this sexual satisfaction is conditioned by a multitude of factors such as the sexual education of both partners, marriage's nature and also the quality of sexual intercourse. Improving the sexual satisfaction of couples necessarily involves adequate awareness of sexual quality.
