The online teaching of botany through information and communication technology (ICT)
Abstract
In the current academic context, in which the implementation of information technologies (ICT) is becoming more and more common in teaching and academic programs, it is necessary to create alternative teaching channels to the currently established methodologies, mostly based on face-to-face classes supported by audiovisual material in many cases, and especially given the need for the implementation of these new technologies, due to the lack of face-to-face classes due to possible future situations of social stress. The use of a virtual herbarium and interpretation of bioclimatic indexes reveal a cognitive acquisition by students of between 92-100% of all items applied, acquiring competencies in sustainable land management, which demonstrates the positive value of distance learning, with a success rate close to 100%, a rate that is comparatively similar to classroom teaching.
