Abstract

The paper re-imagines or examines the applicability or blend of one of the fallouts of the Covid-19 pandemic, called the ‘new normal’ to African philosophical thought of communalism/ubuntu. It holds the view that the blend of African philosophical thought and the ‘new normal’ will help a great deal in healing Africa from the brunt and bruises inflicted on it by Covid-19.  The paper criticized the idea of just copying verbatim the western ideology or thought without determining their implications for African philosophical thought for unity, commonness, and ubuntu.  Given this, the paper seeks to examine the connection between the ‘new normal’ and African philosophical thought by highlighting the common denominators in both concepts to unpack their true meaning and understanding. The paper relies on existing materials in journals, e-books, and other relevant publications that discussed in detail issues relating to the subject matter. It predicts that the African philosophical thought will give a new meaning to the ‘new normal’, hence re-imagining the ‘new normal’ ideology.
