Abstract

“Han Diao Guangguang”, named after its “sound of musical instruments and the sound of chanting and singing”, has been in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List since 2006. It is embodied with abundant ideological and moral norms of Confucianism and Taoism. Although the academic community has not reached a consensus on its origin, it is universally accepted that the local traditional drama with unique regional characteristics has been popularized in the Han River Basin since the end of the Ming Dynasty.  As a kind of local drama, “Han Diao Guanguang” is mainly popular in the Han River Basin. However, with the change of aesthetic standard for people, it is in urgent need of innovation and development. At present, Chinese drama circles are focusing on the reorganization and rearrangement of new historical dramas, so does “Han Diao Guanguang”. Some experts suggest avoiding two major creative misunderstandings of “comprehensive conservation” and “blind innovation”. Based on the survey on the current situations of “Han Daio Gguanguang”, this study puts forwards the strategy of better inheriting cultural characteristics of the local drama by adhering to the historical materialism and making innovations about its music and presentation based on ontological inheritance. In this study, in terms of its promotion, inheritors should integrate local drama with new media, avoid the disadvantages of fragmentation and cultural misinterpretation, and optimize the communication path, to achieve effective communication to meets the needs of its existence and development
