Developing the developmental potential of religious and archaeological monuments to achieve the tourism development of Babylon

Abstract

Tourism development is increasingly important because of its important and prominent role in the growth of the economies of most of the world. Because it is an essential part of economic activity and affects several economic, social and cultural aspects as well as the environmental, urban and political aspects that fall within the tourism aspect. And the province of Babylon from the provinces characterized by the ancient civilization known locally and internationally for the wealth of tourism that make them in the ranks of international tourist cities that the best investment and care to make the contribution of the province is significant and important in upgrading the national tourism sector. In this research, the effects of the investment of development potentials in Babil Province, which lies south of Baghdad Governorate in central Iraq, were discussed. The study also discussed the relationship between tourism development and development potential after presenting it to the research problem. The study dealt with the geographic characteristics of natural, human and economic components, while the second research dealt with the archaeological sites and religious sites in the province. Third, the tourism development of these sites and ways to promote them, and concluded the research proposals for research and some recommendations for tourism development of the province of Babylon.
