The Multiple Faces of Violence in Ahmad Al- Sa'adawi's Frankenstein in Baghdad and Judith Thompson's The Palace of the End
Abstract
This paper examines the horrifying effects of war on Iraqi people in Ahmad Al Sa'adawi's Frankenstein in Baghdad (2013) and Judith Thompson's The Palace of the End (2007) which represent the multiple harsh realities in Iraq during and after the US invasion. This paper tends to demonstrate that violence in these two different texts is ubiquitous; everybody is killing everybody and violence is represented through various means. It becomes part of the Iraqis daily routine after the American occupation because of the security deterioration. I attempt to indicate that in war no one is innocent.
