Histo-physiological effects of Spironolactone drug on liver of Male Albino Rats (Ratts ratts)
Abstract
Background: The current study was aimed to determine the histo_physiological effect of spironolactone (aldactone) drug on the males rats , that include study histological change in liver and physiological parameters of liver. Materials and methods: The study was conducted in animal house of Faculty of science / University of Kufa for the period from December / 2017 to April / 2018 on 40 animals of male rats aged (3–4) months and the weight of ( 350 – 450) mg . the rat group receive spironolactone (0.0029, 0.014) mg/kg for (30) and (60) days with compare to control group. Results: The result of body weight show significant decrease (P<0.05) in body weight of rats in groups treated with spironolactone (0.0029, 0.014) mg/kg for (30) and (60) days respectively in compare with control group also the result in current study show significant increase (P<0.05) in liver weight of rats in groups treated with spironolactone (0.0029, 0.014) mg/kg for (30) and (60) days respectively in compare with control group. The results of liver function test (AST, ALT) show significant increase (P<0.05) of rats in groups treated with spironolactone (0.0029, 0.014 ) mg/kg for (30) and (60) days respectively in compare with control group. The histological section of liver show no change when treated with spironolactone (aldactone) (0.0029, 0.014 ) mg/kg for (30) days respectively in compared with control group, the histological section of liver show hepatic degeneration when treated with spironolactone (aldactone) (0.0029) mg/kg for (60) days in compared with control group and the histological section of liver show hepatic degeneration with chronic inflammatory cell when treated with spironolactone (aldactone) (0.014) mg/kg for (60) days in compared with control group. Conclusion: Obtained results concluded that spironolactone (aldactone) maybe effect on liver in male albino rats (Rattus Rattus).
