Philadelphia University Students' Attitudes toward Faculty Members and the Relationship in Choosing Their Academic Courses
Abstract
The study aimed at identifying the attitudes of Philadelphia University students toward faculty members and their relation to their choice of courses. To achieve the objective, the researchers used the descriptive method and developed a questionnaire that focused on the attitudes of the students towards the faculty members and their relation to their choice of courses. The sample of the study consisted of (650) students from Philadelphia University (450 students in the Bachelor degree and 200 students for the master's degree). The study included three questions: What are Philadelphia University students' attitudes toward faculty members? Do the attitudes of Philadelphia University students differ towards faculty members according to the variable of the study stage? What is the relationship between Philadelphia University students' attitudes towards faculty members and their choice of courses? The results of the study showed that the attitudes of Philadelphia University students toward faculty members were positive. The results of the study also showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the attitudes of Philadelphia University students towards the faculty members due to the variable of the study stage. Philadelphia University students' attitudes toward faculty members and their choice of courses were statistically significant. The study recommended the following that faculty members care about their human and professional qualities more effectively, and the need to activate communication with their students at the university. The faculty members should be interested in using the methods of reinforcement, praise that motivate students to learn and choose courses. The faculty members should have the capacity to open the door to the students to discuss and oppose them, if necessary when presenting some general issues. Conduct further studies in this field and other variables.
